Album teaser for Son Kas
A teaser for Son Kas' album Wasserleichentreiben — assembled the way I'd play a live set, then cut down to length.
The brief was a teaser: a short video to announce Son Kas' new album, Wasserleichentreiben. Not the record, not a full video. Just enough to make you look up.
The effects were roughed out in Modul8 — VJ software, built for playing visuals live rather than trimming them on a timeline. So I treated the footage the way I would on stage, ran it through, and kept what worked. Then Final Cut for the actual cut, and Compressor on the way out.
It's the wrong way round, on paper. Improvise first, edit second. But a timeline makes every frame deliberate, and a VJ rig lets a few happy accidents through. For a teaser, the accidents are rather the point.
Wasserleichentreiben, for the record, is not a title that fits twice on a poster.
A teaser has one job: make you look up. Everything after that is the album's problem.
