CC+ for rightclearing.com

Explaining a licensing model to people who don't yet know they want one is a hard brief. rightclearing.com asked for an animation that makes CC+ make sense — so I made one.

It's an animation explaining CC+ and how rightclearing.com turns music licensing into something simple. I did everything on the video — idea, script, design, animation and edit — except the voice, which belongs to Alex Rain, found through voices.com.

It began with the idea and a script, then a digital storyboard drawn in Adobe Fireworks (still, I'd argue, an underrated tool). All the vectors were built in Adobe Illustrator, pulled into After Effects, and animated and edited with coded expressions to keep the whole thing manageable.

The soundtrack is 'Derapage' by Zoën, licensed under CC+ and cleared for online use through rightclearing.com — which, fittingly, took about five minutes. I edited and re-arranged it in GarageBand, mixed the voice over in the same place, then combined and exported the lot with QuickTime Pro.

Clearing the song took five minutes. Which was, more or less, the whole point.
